Coronavirus cases in Gujarat rose to 1,37,394 with 1,390 new infections being reported on Wednesday, the state health department said.
The death toll increased to 3,453 after 11 more patients died, the department said.

At the same time, the number of recovered cases increased to 1,17,231 with 1,372 patients getting discharged during the day, it said in a release.
With this, the state’s recovery rate now stands at 85.32 percent.
Surat continued to report the highest daily spike in COVID-19 cases in the state with 298 new cases on Wednesday, followed by Ahmedabad at 197, Rajkot at 151, and Vadodara at 133 cases.
Among other districts, Jamnagar reported 92 new cases, Bhavnagar 43, Mehsana and Gandhinagar 41 each, Banaskantha 37, Junagadh 35, Panchmahal 32, Amreli and Patan 30 each, Bharuch, Kutch, Morbi and Surendranagar 24 each, Sabarkantha 16, Mahisagar 15, Gir Somnath 14, Kheda and Tapi 11 each, Anand and Devbhoomi-Dwarka ten each.
Out of 11 deaths, Surat reported four, Ahmedabad three, and Kutch, Mahisagar, Rajkot, and Vadodara one each.
Gujarat now has 16,710 active cases. 86 patients are on ventilator.
The state conducted 61,966 tests for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, at the rate of 953.32 tests per day per million population.
This took the number of samples tested so far to 43,56,062, the release said.

Ahmedabad adds 197 new cases, 267 recover; 3 die
The COVID-19 caseload in Ahmedabad district rose by 197 to 36,847 on Wednesday, while three persons succumbed to the infection, taking the total toll to 1,828, Gujarat health department said.
A total of 267 patients were discharged in the day, taking the overall number of recoveries in the district to 30,839, it said, adding that recoveries exceeded new cases in the city as well as in rural areas.
While Ahmedabad city added 239 recoveries against 179 new cases in the day, rural areas saw 28 recoveries against 18 new patients.
All three fatalities occurred in the city, it said.
According to the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), all seven zones together account for 3,746 active cases.
The west zone in the city has the highest number of 667 active cases, followed by the north-west zone with658 such cases, and the south-west zone which is now left with 591 active cases, it said.
A total of 205 micro containment areas have been demarcated with a strategy to contain the spread of the virus, it said.
The civic body said it will carry out a door-to-door survey and will test suspected cases.
In its latest update, the Ahmedabad Hospitals and Nursing Homes Association (AHNH) said 1,512 of the total 1,826 beds available for COVID-19 patients in 64 designated private hospitals are occupied, which is over 82 percent.
628 beds remain occupied in isolation wards of these hospitals while 115 beds remain available, it said.
In ICUs with ventilators, 128 beds are occupied and 18 remain available, while in ICUs without ventilators, 238 beds are occupied and 50 remain unoccupied, it said.
The number of cases in rural Ahmedabad now stands at 2,441, officials said.
The recovery rate in the rural district now reached 95 percent.

Surat district reports 298 COVID-19 cases, 297 recoveries
The coronavirus tally in Surat district rose to 28,192 on Wednesday with the addition of 298 new cases, the highest for a district in Gujarat in the last 24 hours, while it recorded almost an equal number of recoveries, the state health department said.
The death toll in the district increased to 938 with four new fatalities, it said.
Also, 297 patients – 190 of them in Surat city – were discharged from hospitals following recovery, the health department said in a release.
Among the fresh cases, 180 were reported from Surat city and 118 from rural parts of the south Gujarat district, it said.
Both the city and the rural parts reported two deaths each, it said.
The Surat civic body said it conducted tests on 666 construction labourers at various points where they assemble in the morning to get hired for work, and found two of them to be infected with the virus.
The civic body also distributed 1,591 face masks free of cost to these labourers.
Similar rapid antigen tests conducted on 76 inmates of an old-age home revealed that three of them had contracted the infection, the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) said.
The corporation said it has so far recovered over Rs 2 crore in the penalty from around 48,000 people for not following COVID-19-related norms.
The recovery rate in Surat city has risen to 90.1 percent with 19,385 patients having been discharged from hospitals so far, the SMC said.
A total of 816 patients are currently admitted in various hospitals in Surat for COVID-19 treatment, the SMC said.
It said 245 beds are occupied in two city-based government hospitals where 3,046 beds are available for COVID-19 patients.
