Gujarat on Monday, for the third day in a row, reported the highest single-day rise of 626 new coronavirus cases and 19 deaths, including nine in Ahmedabad, taking the total number of the infected patients to 32,023 and fatalities to 1,828, the state health department said.

A total of 440 patients were discharged in the day, taking the number of the recovered cases in the state to 23,248.
Gujarat now has 6,947 active cases while the condition of 63 patients is critical, it said.
The state has so far tested 3,67,739 samples for coronavirus, it said.
Of the 19 deaths, 9 were reported from Ahmedabad corporation limits, 4 from Surat, 2 from Surendranagar while one death each was reported from Banaskantha, Rajkot, Kheda, and Amreli, as per the health department.

With 236 new cases in the day, the number of infected patients in Ahmedabad district has risen to 20,716 while the death toll has gone up to 1,432, it said.
A total of 171 patients recovered in Ahmedabad in the day, taking the count of such cases in the district to 15,831.
The number of new cases in Surat district has gone up by 206 to 4,630 and by 50 to 2,215 in Vadodara district.
Among other districts, Patan reported 20 new COVID-19 cases, Rajkot 13, Anand 11 while 10 cases each were reported from Mehsana and Amreli. Surendranagar has reported 9 new cases and Bharuch 8 cases, as per the Health Department.
Gujarat COVID-19 figures are as follows: Positive cases 32,023, new cases 626, deaths 1,828, discharged 23,248, active cases 6,947 and people tested so far 3,67,739.

236 new cases of COVID-19 found in Ahmedabad; 9 more die
The number of coronavirus cases in Ahmedabad rose to 20,716 on Monday with the addition of 236 new cases, while nine more patients succumbed to the infection, the Gujarat health department said.
The COVID-19 death toll in the district, the worst hit by the virus in the state, increased to 1,432 with nine more fatalities, it said.

The district also reported recovery of 171 patients, taking the number of discharged people to 15,831, the department said.
Areas under the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (the city) reported 222 new COVID-19 cases, while the remaining part of the district registered 14 infections.
Out of the 14 cases reported from outside the corporation limit, four each were detected from Dholka and Sanand talukas, three from Daskroi, two from Viramgam, and one from Bavla, the department said.
With this, the number of cases in the district panchayat limit rose to 814, of which 656, or 80 percent, patients have been discharged following recovery, it said.
The Ahmedabad corporation limit has reported recovery of 78 percent of the cases so far, while it has recorded a COVID-19 mortality rate of 7 percent.
The city’s west zone has reported 22 percent of total active cases, followed by the south zone at 15 percent, north zone at 14.9 percent, and southwest zone at 14.8 percent, among others.
Meanwhile, the AMC has identified seven new micro containment areas in the city, taking the number of such areas to 44 with a little over 27,500 people residing in them.
The district accounted for 236 of the 626 coronavirus cases reported in the state on Monday.

COVID-19: Ahmedabad gets 7 new micro-containment areas
Seven new micro-containment zones have been added to the 37 existing ones in Ahmedabad city in Gujarat, taking the total number of people placed under restriction in civic limits to 27,509, an official said.
While six of the new areas are in the western zone of the city, one is in the south-west, he added.
The western part accounts for 643 or 22 percent of all COVID-19 cases in Gujarat’s largest city, the highest among all six zones here.
The new micro containment zones are in Chandlodia, Chandkheda, Bodakdev, Vasna, Sabarmati, Naranpura, and Sarkhej localities, covering 270 houses with 1,080 residents.

Till Sunday evening, Ahmedabad city reported 19,681 COVID-19 cases, of which 15,358 patients have been discharged.
The number of new coronavirus cases being reported in Ahmedabad has dropped over the last week, with the daily rise remaining within the 250-mark, compared to over 300 in the early days of June.
