Coronavirus: Gujarat registers 40 new cases, zero death; active tally at 234

Gujarat added 40 new cases of coronavirus on Thursday, taking the infection tally to 8,26,866, while no fresh death due to the disease was reported in the state, the Health Department said.

The tally of recoveries rose to 8,16,542 after 21 patients were discharged from hospitals during the day, said a release by the department.

Gujarat now has 234 active cases, of which 7 patients are on ventilators, it said. The death toll remained unchanged at 10,090 with no fresh fatality registered in the last 24 hours, the release said.

As many as 7.33 crore doses of coronavirus vaccines have been administered to the eligible population so far in Gujarat, of which 4.57 lakh shots were given during the day, the department said.

No new case of COVID-19 was registered in the adjoining Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu in the last 24 hours, said an official release.

Of the total 10,654 people found positive for coronavirus in the UT so far, four have died, while 10,650 have recovered, said the release.
