Corporate India has joined hands with the Central and state governments in tackling the effect of coronavirus. Some of them have committed donations worth crores of rupees, others have virtually put all their infrastructure and other resources in carrying out this mammoth task.
Torrent Group commits ₹100 cr for Covid19, to pay wages to contract workers
Torrent Group on Monday committed Rs 100 crore to PMCARES and other initiatives. The Sudhir and Samir Mehta promoted Torrent Group will contribute Rs 50 crore to the PM’s fund and Rs 50 crore in essential medicines to government hospitals free of cost, contributions to the Gujarat CM’s relief fund, and contributions to NGOs doing grassroots work to address issues arising from the COVID-19 pandemic and personal protection equipment (PPE) to healthcare workers. The group will ensure that employees, including thousands of contract and construction workers under contractors, are paid full wages for the entire duration of the lockdown and the cost will be borne by the group.
IIFL Group commits Rs 5 crores to PM Cares Fund
Financial Services conglomerate, IIFL Group on Monday said that it is making a contribution of Rs 5 crores to the PM Cares Fund instituted by the Government of India.
Nirmal Jain, Founder, IIFL Group said that besides the contribution the company is also engaging its 18000+ employees as well to mobilise more support for this cause. Jain appreciated the concerted efforts by the central and state governments and reiterated that it is through collective community efforts that we could overcome this situation.
He expressed his concerns about the health risk the frontline medical staff faces and the impact of Covid 19 on the Indian economy and the livelihood of millions of people and promised to continue supporting the efforts of the government in fighting coronavirus outbreak.
Essar Foundation works in tandem with Maharashtra Govt

We are part of the Government of Maharashtra Corona Control CSR Group. This is helping us coordinate efforts directly with the state machinery and work jointly with leading groups. We also have tie-ups with several companies and non-profits to consolidate structured relief efforts by identifying communities and responsibly directing funds. The Essar Covid-19 Relief Fund is committed to supporting various groups that require funding. We are also ensuring that the contributions by Essar employees and senior leadership are best utilised for Covid-19 relief work.
Intas donates 2mn HCQ tablets for Covid-19 study
Intas Pharmaceuticals Ltd on Monday announced that the company will provide 2 million tablets of hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) for the World Health Organisation (WHO) endorsed study into the prevention of Covid-19 infection using HCQ. The global study, due to start shortly, involves 40,000 frontline healthcare workers who are caring for Covid-19 patients. The study pools the resources of international experts across multiple continents. Intas will provide up to two million tablets of hydroxychloroquine to the trial, free of charge, along with two million tablets of matched placebo.
