Gujarat reported 255 new coronavirus cases on Wednesday, increasing its COVID-19 tally to 2,64,165, the state health department said.
No COVID-19 fatality was reported in the state during the day, it added.
Earlier, on January 31 the state had recorded zero deaths for the first time in nine months.
The COVID-19 death toll in Gujarat stands at 4,397, the health department said in its release.
On the other hand, 495 patients were discharged, nearly twice as much as new cases. The number of recovered patients thus reached 2,57,968.
The state’s recovery rate also improved to 97.65 percent.
The number of active cases on Wednesday fell below the 2,000-mark to reach 1,800, with 26 patients being on ventilators.
COVID-19 vaccine was administered to 53,615 persons on Wednesday across 883 booths, taking the number of those vaccinated in the state to 7,14,131.
Vadodara district reported the highest 50 new cases of infection, Ahmedabad 47, Rajkot 40, and Surat 33.
Gandhinagar, Anand, Gir Somnath, and Mahisagar districts reported seven new cases each, Junagadh and Sabarkantha six each, Amreli, Dahod, Bharuch four each.
The Union Territory of Daman, Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli remains COVID-19 free, with zero active cases. The UT has reported a total of 3,370 cases so far, out of which 3,368 have recovered and two patients died.
