Gujarat recorded 990 new cases of coronavirus infection in the last 24 hours, taking the tally to 1,77,598, the state health department said on Thursday evening.

The death toll due to coronavirus in the state stands at 3,747 with seven more persons succumbing to the infection, it said.
At the same time, 1,055 patients also recovered during this period.
In the last 24 hours, three patients died in Surat, two in Ahmedabad, and one each in Dahod and Gandhinagar, the health department said.
217 new COVID-19 cases were detected in Surat during the day, followed by 173 in Ahmedabad, 115 in Vadodara, 94 in Rajkot, 44 in Mehsana, 37 in Gandhinagar, and 35 in Banaskantha district.

As many as 90.95 percent of patients have recovered in the state so far.
Over 51,500 coronavirus tests were conducted in the state in the last 24 hours.
Five new cases of coronavirus were found while two patients were discharged during the day in the adjoining Union Territory of Dadra Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu.
As many as 3,242 persons have tested positive for coronavirus in the Union Territory to date.
Of these, two have died, 3,204 have recovered and 36 cases are still active, said a release by the UT administration.
Gujarat’s COVID-19 figures are as follows: Positive cases 1,77,598, new cases 990, death toll 3,747, discharged 1,61,525, active cases 12,326 and people tested so far 63,13,668.
173 new cases in Ahmedabad district
Ahmedabad district recorded 173 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, the state Health Department said on Thursday evening.
It took the tally of cases in the district to 43,381.
Two patients died due to the infection during this period, taking the death toll in the district to 1,928.
While 161 persons tested positive in Ahmedabad city since Wednesday evening, 12 cases were reported in rural areas.
On the other hand, 176 patients were discharged from hospitals, taking the recovery tally of the district to 38,159.
