CHENNAI, MARCH 25
When the entire country is locked down and the general public is confined in their homes with all comforts, Tamil Nadu Police is not only working to enforce strict lockdown in the entire state to break the chain of transmission of COVID-19 but also presented a humane face by making special efforts in all possible ways by taking the new ‘avataar’ foisted upon them overnight by the unprecedented crisis.
A socially-conscious traffic police officer’s gesture braving the hot sun is creating waves on the social media on Wednesday.
The police Inspector Rashid, attached to the Traffic Wing of the Anna Salai police station in Chennai started pleading with folded hands to those venturing out in vehicles not to come out of their houses in the larger interest of their family and the country.
In this video, the police officer is seen appealing the bike and car riders to adhere to the restrictions imposed by the State and Central governments to safeguard the people from the pandemic coronavirus outbreak during the 21-day lockdown period.
After hearing his plea with folded hands, a biker offered to touch down the officer’s feet for his noble gesture, sources in the police said.
When this video gone viral in social media, police officials in other parts of the city and state start replicating the same, a top police official said.
