For the 8th consecutive day, Gujarat reported over 1000 cases viz 1,108 new coronavirus cases on Tuesday, taking the count to 57,982, while 24 more patients succumbed to the infection, half of them in Surat alone, the state health department said.

With 24 more COVID-19 patients dying, statewide fatalities rose to 2,372, it said here.
The number of patients discharged on Tuesday stood at 1,032, taking the total recoveries in Gujarat to 42,412.
The state has 13,198 active cases, out of which 87 patients are on ventilators, the department said in a release.
It said as many as 22,248 samples were tested for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, a rate of 342.27 tests per million per day.
With this, a total of 6,90,092 samples have been tested so far for coronavirus in the state.

Surat reported 293 new cases, the highest in the state, taking the tally to 12,819.
With 156 new cases, Ahmedabad’s tally rose to 26,032.
Surat’s toll rose to 565 with 12 new deaths, while fatalities in Ahmedabad increased to 1,583 with four more patients succumbing to the disease on Tuesday.
Among other districts, Vadodara reported 91 new cases, followed by Rajkot at 79 and Gandhinagar 44.
Bhavnagar and Dahod reported 38 new cases each, Banaskantha 34, Surendranagar 32, Amreli and Jamnagar 26 each, Navsari 21, Mahisagar 20, Bharuch and Panchmahal 19 each, Mehsana, Patan and Valsad 18 each, Narmada 16, Gir Somnath 15, Kheda 13, Anand 11 and Kutch 10 among others.
Other than Ahmedabad and Surat, Bhavnagar, Rajkot, and Jamnagar districts reported two deaths each, and Gandhinagar and Vadodara one each, it said.
The health department said a total of 4,72,136 persons are currently quarantined across the state.

Surat records 293 new cases; 12 die, 248 recover
Surat reported 293 new coronavirus cases on Tuesday, taking the tally in the district to 12,819, while a dozen more patients succumbed to the infection, the Gujarat health department said.
With 12 fresh fatalities, the death toll rose to 565, it said.
As many as 8,641 patients have been discharged in the state so far, 248 of them on Tuesday, said district health officials.
Surat city reported 199 new cases and rural parts 94, they said.
Out of the 12 deaths, the city reported seven and rural parts of the district five.
In Surat city, the Katargam locality has reported the highest number of 2,260 cases so far, followed by Limbayat at 1,458 and Varachha ”A” at 1,382.
As many as 29,133 persons have been quarantined in the district at present – 22,593 in the city and 6,540 in talukas.
In the city, health teams of the Surat Municipal Corporation have so far surveyed 8.15 lakh population for coronavirus, the officials said.
Ahmedabad cases cross 26K-mark; 167 recover
The number of COVID-19 cases in Ahmedabad district crossed the 26,000 mark and reached 26,032 on Tuesday with addition of 156 patients, state Health department said.
The death toll rose by four to 1,583.
With 167 patients -147 from the city and 20 from rural areas – being discharged in the day, the count of recovered cases in the district went up to 21,001, it said.
Of the 156 cases, 147 cases were reported from the limits of Ahmedabad city, and the rest nine from rural areas.
As per the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), the number of recovered cases stood at 20,266, which is 82.2 percent of the total cases.
The number of active cases in Ahmedabad is 2,845, which is 11.5 percent of the total cases, as per the health bulletin issued by the AMC.
The west zone remains the worst-affected with 461 cases, followed by 447 cases in the northwest zone and 433 cases in the southwest zone, it said.
The number of COVID-19 cases in rural Ahmedabad rose to 1,237 with 9 new cases, officials said, adding that there are 107 active cases.
The death toll in rural Ahmedabad stands at 58, they said.
