COVID-19: Four people die; 384 fresh cases in Puducherry

Four more people, including a 75-year-old-woman succumbed to COVID-19 in Puducherry, taking the total number of fatalities to 110, while 384 fresh cases took the tally to 7,732 in the Union territory.

The four deceased were aged between 43 to 75 years. The total number of active cases was 3,179, while 4,443 patients had been discharged from various hospitals so far, Director of Health and Family Welfare S Mohan Kumar said in a release.

The positivity rate in the union territory was 37.94 per cent, while the fatality rate was 1.42 per cent, he said. During the last 24 hours ended at 10 am, 384 fresh infections were reported after 1,012 samples were tested.

A total of 183 patients were discharged during this period. Of the 3,179 total active cases, 1,583 were in home quarantine, the Director said. The overall number of COVID-19 cases in Puducherry stood at 7,732, the release quoted him as having said.

The recovery percentage in Puducherry was 57.46 per cent. A total of 54,852 samples have been tested so far, out of which 45,803 samples were negative. The results of the remaining samples are awaited, it said.
