The union territory of Puducherry reported 112 new coronavirus cases during the last 24 hours, logging fresh infections in three digits after two days.
The 112 fresh infections took the overall tally to 1,19,935, Director of Health and Family Welfare Services S Mohan Kumar said on Wednesday.
After reporting 78 and 42 cases in the last days, the daily COVID-19 numbers crossed the 100 mark again.
The Puducherry region reported 85 new cases followed by Karaikal (12), Yanam (8) and Mahe (7).
The new cases were identified at the end of the examination of 6,549 samples during the last 24 hours ending 10 AM Wednesday, he said.
The active cases stood at 961 with 163 in hospitals and those in home isolation being 798.
There were no new fatalities during the last 24 hours and the death toll remained at 1,781.
The Health department Director said while 139 patients recovered and were discharged from hospitals, the total recoveries was 1,17,193.
Mohan Kumar said 14,43,817 samples have been tested so far and it was found that 12,33,492 of them were negative.
The test positivity rate was 1.71 per cent while the fatality and recovery rates were 1.48 per cent and 97.71 per cent respectively.
He said 37,712 healthcare workers and 22,950 frontline workers have been vaccinated so far.
As many as 4,60,523 people belonging to the category of either senior citizens or those above 45 years with comorbidities have been inoculated so far in the Union Territory.
In all 6.51 lakh people including those who received the second dose have been vaccinated so far.
