Gujarat’s tally of coronavirus positive patients increased to 1,62,985 after 1,137 new cases were reported on Wednesday, the state health department said.
With nine new fatalities, the death toll in the state rose to 3,663, it said.
As many as 1,180 patients were discharged from various hospitals across the state on Wednesday, which pushed the recovery count to 1,45,107.
Gujarat’s recovery rate improved to 89.03 per cent, the department said in a release.
As many as 52,986 tests were conducted in the state in the last 24 hours, at the rate of 815.16 tests per day per million population.
This increased the number of samples tested so far to 55,32,522.
Surat reported 239 new cases, Ahmedabad 177, Vadodara 118 and Rajkot 104.
Among other districts, Mehsana reported 48 new cases, Gandhinagar 46, Kutch, Junagadh and Patan 26 each, Bharuch and Dahod 23 each, Panchmahal and Sabarkantha 22 each, Surendranagar 20, Amreli and Narmada 19 each, Banaskantha 16, Anand 13, Kheda and Bhavnagar 12 each, and Gir Somnath 11, etc.
Of the nine deaths on Wednesday, Surat reported the highest number of three, followed by Ahmedaabd at two.
One death each was reported from Banaskantha, Bharuch, Gir Somnath, and Vadodara, the release said.
In the Union Territory of Daman, Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli (DNH), total COVID-19 cases rose to 3,183 with the addition of 13 new cases- five in Daman and eight in DNH, officials said.
There are a total 44 active cases in the UT.

Ahmedabad tally rises by 177, recoveries by 181
Ahmedabad’s count of coronavirus patients increased to 40,743 after 177 new cases were reported on Wednesday, the state health department said.
Two fatalities during the day increased the COVID-19 toll in the district to 1,896, it said.
The number of recovered cases at 181 increased the total patients discharged from various hospitals to 35,387.
Ahmedabad city reported 165 new cases and 163 recoveries, while the rural parts reported 12 new cases and 18 recoveries.
As per the COVID-19 bulletin released by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) on Wednesday afternoon, there are 508 active cases in the city’s north-west zone, the highest among the seven zones, followed by the west zone with 492 cases, and south-west zone with 486 cases.
Central zone continues to report the lowest number of 300 active cases, the AMC said.
Out of 1,830 deaths reported in the city, 1,303 have been reported in various government hospitals, including 713 in the civil hospital, the civic body said.
As many as 526 patients have died in private hospitals, and one in a government COVID care centre, it said.
The COVID-19 count in rural Ahmedabad rose to 2,815 with the addition of 12 new cases.
At the same time, 18 recoveries in this part of the district pushed the number of recovered cases to 2,709, achieving the recovery rate of 96 percent.
