The COVID-19 tally in Gujarat rose to 1,52,765 on Monday with the addition of 1,169 fresh cases in the last 24 hours, state health department said.
Eight more patients died across the state, taking the toll to 3,577, the department said in a release.
Also, 1,442 persons recovered from the infection and discharged from hospitals in the last 24 hours, taking the number of such cases to 1,33,752, it said, adding that the case recovery rate in the state has now gone up to 87.55 percent.
While three patients died each in Ahmedabad and Surat districts, one fatality each was reported from Rajkot and Gandhinagar.
At 254, Surat added the highest number of cases in the state in the day, followed by 184 in Ahmedabad, 128 in Vadodara, 122 in Rajkot, 89 in Jamnagar, 25 in Mehsana and 24 in Kutch.
At 279, Surat reported the highest number of recoveries in the state in the day, followed by 192 discharges in Ahmedabad.
A total of 50.63 lakh samples have been tested in the state until now, the department said.
The state has 15,436 active cases.

Ahmedabad COVID-19 cases go past 39,000
The COVID-19 tally in Ahmedabad district mounted to 39,109 on Monday with the addition of 184 fresh cases, Gujarat health department said.
With three persons succumbing to the infection, the toll in the district went up to 1,868, it said.
A total of 192 patients, including 178 in the city and 14 from villages, were discharged in the day, taking the count of recoveries to 33,732, the department said.
Out of the 184 new cases, 166 infections were reported from Ahmedabad city and 18 from rural areas.

254 cases, 3 deaths, 279 discharged in Surat
The number of COVID-19 cases in Surat increased by 254 in the last 24 hours, while three people succumbed to the infection, an official said on Monday.
The caseload in the district is now 31,457 while the toll has reached 976, he said.
The addition of 254 cases, comprising 171 from city limits and rest from rural areas, was the highest for any district in the state for the day, and so was the number discharged which stood at 279, officials pointed out.
“Surat city now has 23,602 positive cases, Both Athva and Katargam zones of the city have reported over 4,000 cases each till now, followed by 3,546 cases in Rander and 2,651 cases in Varachha-A zone,” he said.
