Gujarat recorded 667 new coronavirus cases on Thursday and just three deaths, while nearly 900 patients recovered from the infection, the state health department said.

The state’s COVID-19 tally rose to 2,49,913 with the addition of 667 new cases in the last 24 hours, while the death toll increased to 4,332, said a release by the department.
Also, 899 COVID-19 patients recovered from the infection during the period, pushing the number of discharged people to 2,37,222, it said.
With 47,942 new tests, the number of samples examined in the state so far reached 1,00,03,606, the release said.
The state now has 8,359 active cases.
Among the fresh fatalities, two patients died in Ahmedabad city and one in Surat city, said the release.
As many as 133 new COVID-19 cases, the highest in the state, were registered in Ahmedabad district, followed by 120 in Surat, 119 in Vadodara, 80 in Rajkot, 17 each in Kutch and Gandhinagar and 16 in Bharuch, the release said.
Gujarat’s COVID-19 recovery rate has gone up to 94.92 per cent, said the release.
During the day, no positive case was found in the adjoining Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu.
Of the total 3,351 coronavirus cases found in the centrally-administered territory so far, two patients have died, 3,344 recovered while five people are under treatment, said a release by the UT administration.

Ahmedabad records 133 COVID-19 cases, 137 recoveries; 2 die
Ahmedabad district recorded 133 new coronavirus cases on Thursday, while 137 patients recovered from the infection, the state Health Department said.
With 133 fresh cases, Ahmedabad’s COVID-19 tally rose to 58,652 cases, while the death of two more patients in the last 24 hours pushed the toll to 2,263, said a release by the department.
Also, 137 COVID-19 patients recovered during the day, taking the number of discharged people to 53,495, it said.
With constant improvement in the situation, COVID-19 patient occupancy in Ahmedabad Civil Hospital, which has around 1,200 dedicated beds, has come down under 95 beds, said civil superintendent J V Modi.
Of the fresh coronavirus cases, which were the highest for a district in the state, 129 were reported from the city and only four from the rural areas, said the release.
It added that 132 patients from the city and five from the rural parts of the district were discharged from hospitals following their recovery.
