Gujarat reported 908 new coronavirus positive cases on Monday, taking its tally to 1,68,081, while more than 1,100 patients recovered from the infection, the state health department said.

With four more deaths, the lowest single-day count in several months, the state’s COVID-19 toll rose to 3,693, it said.
At the same time, the state’s tally of recovered cases crossed the 1.5 lakh-mark and rose to 1,50,650 with an additional1,102 patients getting discharged from various hospitals on Monday, said a release from the department.
This further pushed the state”s recovery rate to 89. 63 percent, it said.
Surat reported the highest number of 228 new cases, followed by Ahmedabad with 173 and Vadodara 111.
Among other districts, Rajkot reported 68 new cases, Jamnagar 28, Mehsana 27, Gandhinagar 26, Morbi 23, Surendranagar 22, Bharuch 20, Amreli 17, Patan 17, Kutch 14, Anand 13, Banaskantha, Gir Somnath and Kheda 11 each, Sabarkantha 10, among others, it said.
Out of the four fresh deaths, two were reported in Ahmedabad, and one each in Rajkot and Surat, the release said.
The number of active cases in the stats now stands at 13,738, out of which 61 patients are on the ventilator, said the health department.
The count of COVID-19 cases in the Union Territory of Daman, Diu and Dadra, and Nagar Haveli on Monday stood unchanged at 3,203 with no new case reported from any of the three districts.
Dadra and Nagar Haveli reported one recovery, increasing the UT”s total discharged cases to 3,151, officials said.
In the last 24 hours, a total of 51,046 tests were conducted for the virus in Gujarat, taking the number of samples tested so far to 57,93,788, the release said.

Ahmedabad reports 173 new cases, 112 recoveries
The number of coronavirus cases in Ahmedabad district of Gujarat increased to 41,628 on Monday with the addition of 173 new infections, the state health department said.

The death of two patients took the COVID-19 fatalities in the district to 1,907, it said.
At the same time, 112 fresh recoveries increased the number of patients discharged from hospitals so far to 36,085, said the department in a release.
Ahmedabad city reported 160 new COVID-19 cases and 92 recoveries, while the rural parts reported 13 new cases and 20 recoveries.
As per the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), the city’s west zone has again reported the highest number of active cases among seven city zones.
There are 565 active cases in the west zone, followed by 522 in the north-west zone and 500 in the south-west zone. With 319 active cases, the central zone has the lowest number of active cases, the AMC said.
As many as 1,083 beds are occupied out of a total of 2,036 made available across 69 private hospitals requisitioned by the AMC for the treatment of COVID-19 patients, the Ahmedabad Hospitals and Nursing Homes Association said.
As many as 96 beds are occupied and 65 available in ICUs with ventilators, it said.
Also, 430 beds are occupied and 403 available in isolation wards.

Surat sees 228 new cases, 1 death while 261 recover
Surat reported 228 new coronavirus positive cases on Monday, the highest in the state, which took its tally to 34,811, while the death toll increased by one to touch 1,008, an official said.
A total of 261 people, comprising 173 from city limits and 88 from the rural areas, were discharged during the day.
“Of the new cases, Surat city accounted for 164 while the rest were from the rural parts. The recovery rate in areas under Surat Municipal Corporation is now 92.6 percent with 24,055 people having been discharged,” he said.
The official said 20,219 people were quarantined and over 7.8 lakh had been surveyed in SMC areas where cases have been reported.
Athwa locality in the city reported the highest number of 35 cases on Monday, taking its overall count to 4,849.
The SMC said 450 patients are admitted in various city hospitals, including 139 in two government hospitals, against a bed capacity of 3,046.
In rural Surat, the number of COVID-19 cases in Kamrej taluka rose to 1,892, the highest among nine talukas, with 21 new cases.
It has witnessed 89 deaths so far, the highest among rural areas, while Umarpada is at the other end with 78 cases and one fatality.
