Gujarat registered 56 new COVID-19 cases and one death on Friday, while 196 patients recovered from the infection, the state Health Department said.

With the death of one more patient – in Surat district – during the day, the toll due to coronavirus rose to 10,073 in the state, said a release by the department.
With the addition of 56 new cases, the COVID-19 tally increased to 8,24,147, said the release, adding the number of recoveries rose to 8,12,718 after 196 patients were discharged from hospitals during the day.
Gujarat now has 1,356 active cases, of which, only 8 patients are on ventilators, the department said. The COVID-19 recovery rate in the state stands at 98.61 percent. Of the total 56 new cases, 12 each were registered in Ahmedabad and Surat district, followed by 7 in Vadodara and 4 in Rajkot district, the release said.
Only one new case was reported in the adjoining Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu in the last 24 hours, taking the overall tally to 10,552, said a release by the authorities. Also, 11 patients were discharged from hospitals during the day, the UT release said.
Out of a total of 10,552 persons found positive for coronavirus in the Union Territory since the outbreak, four have died, 10,525 have recovered while 23 patients are currently under treatment, the release.
