Gujarat’s COVID-19 tally rose to 2,20,168 after 1,380 new cases were recorded on Monday, while 1,568 more patients recovered from the infection, the state health department said.
With 14 fresh deaths, COVID-19 fatalities in the state increased to 4,095, it said.

At the same time, 1,568 more patients recovered from the viral infection, outnumbering the new cases, raising the number of discharged people to 2,01,580, the department said in a release.
With 68,868 tests conducted on Monday, the total samples tested so far for the virus rose to 83,10,558, it said.
There are now 14,493 active cases in the state with 81 patients being on ventilators, said the release.
Ahmedabad district recorded the highest number of cases at 306, followed by Surat 222, Vadodara 177, and Rajkot 128, it said.
Among other districts, Gandhinagar recorded 71 cases, Patan 58, Mehsana 54, Banaskantha 39, Jamnagar 37, Bhavnagar 32, Surendranagar 29, Kutch 26, Morbi 22, Kheda 20, Sabarkantha 19 and Panchmahal 18.
Out of the 14 fresh deaths, nine occurred in Ahmedabad, three in Surat, and one each in Amreli and Rajkot, said the department.

In the Union Territory of Daman, Diu and Dadra, and Nagar Haveli, two new COVID-19 cases pushed the tally to 3,317, officials said.
With two more COVID-19 patients getting discharged, the number of recovered cases rose to 3,317 in the adjoining Union Territory (UT), they said.
There are 14 active cases in the UT which has reported two COVID-29 deaths so far, they said.

Ahmedabad sees 306 cases, 9 deaths; 314 recover
Ahmedabad district reported 306 COVID-19 cases on Monday, taking its tally to 52,336, while the death toll reached 2,128 after nine people succumbed to the infection, an official said.
The areas under Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation accounted for 289 of the new cases and 285 of the 314 people discharged, the rest coming from rural parts of the district, he said.
“The number of people discharged in the district now stands at 47,114, including 43,702 in city areas. The city’s north-west zone has 475 active cases, the highest among seven zones, followed by the west zone with 438, the south-west with 401, and 382 in the south. The city now has 2,577 active cases,” he said.
The Ahmedabad Hospitals and Nursing Homes Association said the city’s 103 private hospitals have 2,317 patients, while the total bed capacity is 3,356, an occupancy rate of 69 percent.
It said 46 beds are available and 191 occupied in ICUs with ventilators, while 122 are available and 372 occupied in ICUs without ventilators.
“In six COVID care centres, 53 beds are occupied out of 348 available,” it said.

Surat reports 222 new cases, 276 recoveries; 3 die
Surat district recorded 222 new coronavirus cases and three more deaths on Monday, the state health department said.
With this, the COVID-19 tally rose to 45,175, while the fatalities in the south Gujarat district increased to 1,087, said the department in a release.
Also, 276 more COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospitals during the day following recovery, it said.
The city reported 191 new cases and 214 recoveries, while the rural parts of the district registered 31 fresh infections and 62 discharges, the release said.
A total of 31,620 patients have been discharged so far in the city, showing a recovery rate of 94.14 percent, said the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC).
As many as 20,910 people are quarantined in the city, said the civic body in a release.
Also, 418 coronavirus patients are admitted in various city hospitals, including 149 in two government hospitals, it said.
The city’s Athwa zone has so far reported the highest number of 6,428 cases, of which 34 were added on Monday. The Katargam area is second with 5,545 infections, said the SMC.
In rural Surat, 11,031 COVID-19 patients have been discharged so far following recovery, while 2,396 people are under quarantine, officials said.
With 2,366 cases, Kamrej has reported the highest number of infections among talukas so far. The taluka also leads in terms of deaths at 90, they said.

DGP extends night curfew in four major cities
State DGP Ashish Bhatia on Monday extended the night curfew in four major cities – Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat and Rajkot – till further notice to contain the spread of coronavirus. There will be no change in curfew timings, a release said.
