Gujarat recorded the highest single-day spike of 1,272 coronavirus cases since previous evening, taking its case tally to 92,601 on Friday, the health department said.

Fourteen patients died during this period, taking the death toll due to the pandemic to 2,978, it said.
Surat district reported 270 new cases, followed by Ahmedabad with 168 new cases.
1,050 COVID-19 patients were also discharged from hospitals during this period, taking the number of recovered cases to 74,551.
Of the total 14 persons who succumbed to the infection, five died in Ahmedabad district alone, followed by three in Surat, two each in Vadodara and Rajkot, and one each in Amreli and Gir Somnath districts.
213 patients, the highest in the state, recovered in Surat district on Friday, followed by 162 in Ahmedabad.
The recovery rate in Gujarat is now 80.51 percent.
As many as 75,800 coronavirus tests were carried out in the last 24 hours, taking the per million average to 1,166.15 tests.
There are 15,072 active patients in the state, 86 of them on ventilators.

168 new cases in Ahmedabad, five deaths
With the addition of 168 coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, the caseload in Ahmedabad district climbed to 31,013, the state health department said on Friday.
Of these 168 new cases, 145 were from Ahmedabad city, while 23 others from the district, a release issued by the department said.
With the death of five COVID-19 patients during this period, the fatality count in the district reached 1,721.
As many as 162 patients undergoing treatment at different hospitals in the district recovered from the infection and were given discharge in the last 24 hours, it added.
These 162 recovered patients include 144 from the city.
With this, the recovery count in the district has now gone up to 25,919, it said.
Of the total number of 2,978 COVID-19 deaths registered in Gujarat so far, as many as 1,721 were from Ahmedabad district alone.
While 1,663 victims were from the city, 58 deaths were reported from rural parts of the district.

270 new coronavirus cases found in Surat
As many as 270 new coronavirus cases were detected in Surat district since the previous evening, the Gujarat health department said on Friday.
The number of cases in Surat rose to 20,325, it said.
Two persons from the city died since Thursday evening while one death was reported from other parts of the district, taking the death toll to 802.
The district once again recorded the highest number of fresh coronavirus cases in Gujarat. Its tally of 20,325 cases is second biggest after Ahmedabad, where 31,013 persons have been found infected so far.
Out of 270 new cases, 178 were from Surat city while 92 cases were from rural parts of the district.
213 persons, also highest in the state, recovered in the district in the last 24 hours, taking the total to 16,742, the release said.
Minister, Congress MLA test positive for corona
Gujarat Minister of State for Civil Supply Dharmendrasinh Jadeja and Congress MLA from Visavadar in the state Harshad Ribadiya have tested positive for coronavirus.
“I have tested positive for coronavirus…,” Ribadiya tweeted on Friday, adding that he had no symptoms and was “perfectly alright”.
He had isolated himself at home, the Congress MLA said.
Jadeja, a BJP leader, tweeted late Thursday night that he had tested positive for coronavirus and was admitted to a hospital in Ahmedabad.
Earlier on Thursday, BJP MP from Ahmedabad West Kirit Solanki and BJP MLA from Majura in Surat Harsh Sanghavi had also tested positive for coronavirus.
