COVID-19 in TN: 4,496 new cases, total breaches 1.5L mark; 68 deaths, 5,000 recovered

COVID-19 cases continued to be over 4,000 for the fourth successive day in Tamil Nadu but in some relief for the State 5000 patients were discharged on Wednesday, taking the total recoveries to over 1.02 lakh.

COVID-19 cases continued to be over 4,000 for the fourth successive day in Tamil Nadu but in some relief for the State 5000 patients were discharged on Wednesday, taking the total recoveries to over 1.02 lakh.

According to a health department bulletin, 68 people died pushing the death toll to 2,167 and 64 of them had co-morbidities.

A 19-year-old girl, two men aged 97 and 94 besides a 34-year-old man were among the dead.

The state reported 4,496 new COVID-19 positive today,taking the infection count to 1,51,820.

As many as 1,02,310 people have got cured so far including 5,000 patients who were discharged on Wednesday from various hospitals in the state and the active cases were 47,340.

For the first time on Tuesday, Tamil Nadu”s everyday count of positive cases crossed the 4,500 mark and the state”s daily tally stood at 4,526. a bulletin said.
