In the wake of complete lockdown over Covid-19, Southern Railway is offering its unhindered services for nationwide transportation of essential commodities like foodgrains, coal for powerhouses etc through wagons.
Now with special reference to movemenrt of medicines, medical equipments, masks etc railway parcel vans are available for the only mass quick transportation across the nation for the needy customers including State governments.
To start with, such aggregated parcel vans trains are ready to be run for different destinations from Salem Division are;
1. Coimbatore-Patel Nagar (Delhi region) – Coimbatore.
2. Coimbatore – Rajkot- Coimbatore.
3. Coimbatore – Jaipur- Coimbatore.
4. Salem – Batinda .

Beside this, an exclusive Inspector has been deployed at Salem Division E. MuthuKumar Chief Commercial Inspector for Freight Marketing 9003956931.
The services will be run as per extant rules and on payment of parcel/freight charges. It may please be noted a minimum of 15 parcel vans needs to be aggregated in groups /individualy to run the said services (each VP capacity is 23 tonnes).
Apart from the above, any other Origin – Destination points are also welcome for inquiry and registration.
The Industrial houses, companies, any interested groups, organizations, individuals are requested to avail of the rail services of Southern Railway, a release issued by the Public Relations Officer, Salem Division said.
