A four-member team of the central government will be on a visit to Gujarat on Friday to review the coronavirus situation in the state and to provide necessary guidance.

The team will first visit Surat on Friday morning and hold a review meeting with the local officials, including collector and municipal commissioner, a release issued by the Gujarat government on Thursday said.

After a field visit in some parts of Surat, the team would arrive at Ahmedabad in the afternoon to review the steps taken by the administration to contain the spread of the virus, it said.
The team would also hold a meeting with Chief Minister Vijay Rupani in the evening, the release said, adding that the team would leave on July 18 morning.
State adds 919 cases to breach 45K-mark
With 919 new coronavirus cases, Gujarat’s tally breached the 45,000-mark on Thursday, while 10 more patients succumbed to the infection, said the state health department.
After the addition of 919 new cases in the last 24 hours – the second-highest single-day spike so far – the tally went up to 45,567, said a release by the health department.
As many as 10 persons with COVID-19 infection died across the state, taking the toll to 2,091, it said.

Also, 828 people were discharged from different hospitals in the state, taking the recoveries to 32,174, the department said.
As many as 191 patients recovered in Surat district alone followed by 188 in Ahmedabad and 166 in Vadodara, it said.
Out of the total 919 new cases, 265 were from Surat district alone, including 217 in the city limits.
Ahmedabad district was on the second spot with 181 new cases, 168 of them in city areas. Ahmedabad’s tally of cases has now reached 23,780, the highest in the state.
Other districts where a significant number of cases were reported in the last 24 hours were Rajkot (51), Bhavnagar (50), Junagadh (32), and Bharuch (29).
With fresh cases, Surat’s tally has gone up to 9,451, the second-highest after Ahmedabad.
Of the total 10 fatalities, five each were reported from Ahmedabad and Surat city.
The release said Gujarat has conducted 4,99,170 tests.
The state has 11,302 active cases, of which 73 patients are on ventilators while 11,229 are stable, it said.
Out of around 3.56 lakh people currently quarantined in the state, as many as 3.53 lakh are home quarantined while 2,385 are in different facilities.

181 new cases found in Ahmedabad; 188 discharged
As many as 181 persons from Ahmedabad district tested positive for coronavirus in the last 24 hours, taking the tally to 23,780 on Thursday, the state health department said.
While five deaths were reported in the city, no one succumbed to the infection in rural areas of the district in the last 24 hours, said a release by the health department.

The death toll in the district has now reached 1,532.
Out of the 181 new cases, 168 were from Ahmedabad city and the remaining 13 from rural areas of the district, said the release.
The release stated that 188 patients undergoing treatment at different hospitals recovered and discharged in the last 24 hours.
The 188 recoveries, the second-highest after Surat, included 171 from the city and 17 residents of different villages of Ahmedabad district.
Out of the total 2,091 COVID-19 deaths registered in Gujarat so far, as many as 1,532 were from Ahmedabad district alone.
While 1,475 victims were from the city, 57 deaths were reported from different villages of Ahmedabad district.
Of the total 23,780 cases registered in Ahmedabad district so far, as many as 22,762 were from the city while rest 1,018 cases were reported from in other parts of the district.
