The Tamil Nadu government has recruited 3,038 medical staff, including 530 doctors, 1,508 lab technicians, and 1,000 nurses, as part of its efforts to fight against COVID-19, said a statement from the Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami here on Friday.
The Chief Minister said that the medical staff were recruited through the Tamil Medical Services Recruitment Board following the normal procedures. The medical staff appointed should report for duty within three days of receiving the appointment orders.
Apart from this, the government also procured 200 ambulances to meet the exigencies arising out of coronavirus in the state.
Later in the evening, the Chief Minister inspected the upgraded 500 bedded corona-ready facilities at the Government Omanthurar Multi-Specialty Hospital along with the Health and Family Welfare Minister C. Vijayabhaskar and officials.
The Chief Minister chaired the review meeting at his camp office. Health Minister C. Vijayabhaskar, Chief Secretary K. Shanmugam, Director-General of Police J.K. Tripathy and other senior officials were present.
