Tata Motors on Monday announced that it is continuing its efforts to ensure the well-being of the community amidst the lockdown and has achieved a district-wide impact from the measures undertaken in line with the company’s E3 strategy – Essential supplies provision, Equipping Heroes on ground-zero, and Educating masses for containment and prevention – which has positively impacted over 34,054 lives in 50 days, a company spokesman said.
To date, the company distributed over 1,810 ration kits to more than 1,800 families in Sanand, Viramgam, and Ahmedabad. Each ration kit consisted of 3 kg rice, 3 kg wheat flour, 1 kg pulses, 1 kg sugar, 1 pkt chili powder, 1 pkt turmeric powder, 1 pkt tea powder, 1 pkt salt, 1 ltr cooking oil, 2.5 kg potatoes, 2.5 kg onion, 1 soap, and 1 reusable mask. By donating dry ration to community kitchens in Sanand, the company was able to distribute cooked meals to the community in the slums and Civil Hospitals in Sanand. To date, the company has served over 6,679 cooked meals.
Pavan Bharadwaj, Assistant Director, Main Streaming Division, AMC (Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation)- AIDS Control Society said, “We are heartily thankful to Tata Motors for providing the necessary support to the community most impacted by this pandemic. With their support we were able to aid 50 beneficiaries covering widows and orphan children.”
Further, Tata Motors till date distributed over 13,262 face masks and 12,333 hand sanitizer bottles of 100 ml each to hospitals, vendors, health-workers, army personnel, police stations, forest department officials, in communities around the Sanand plant. The company has also been distributing masks and hand sanitizer to the District Health Department and community and Ahmedabad district administration through The District Development Officer (DDO) and The District Health Officer (DHO). In addition to this, 40 volunteers of Tata Motors Sanand have donated blood in partnership with Red Cross Society.
Arun Mahesh Babu, District Development Officer, Ahmedabad says, “We appreciate the efforts of Tata Motors and its NGO partners for contributing 10,500 masks and 10,000 sanitizers, during these tough circumstances created due to the spread of COVID-19.”
Furthermore, through multiple channels, the company is also providing educational material in regional languages to raise awareness amongst the lowest strata of the society regarding precautions to be taken to combat COVID-19. TML Sanand’s awareness sessions in the Sanand Taluka began prior to the spread of COVID-19 in Gujarat. The company with support from Dr. Meena Shah and a team of volunteers educated over 1000 individuals in several villages. The company is also leveraging its social media platforms to spread awareness about simple and easy precautionary measures one can adopt to stay unaffected and healthy.
