The COVID-19 vaccination drive commenced for frontline defence personnel at the Southern Naval Command here on Thursday.
In accordance with the Centre’s guidelines for inoculation of frontline defense personnel, the Southern Naval Command Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief Vice Admiral Anil Kumar Chawla launched the drive at naval hospital INHS Sanjivani here, a Defence release said.
The Admiral along with the Commanding Officers of Southern Naval Command frontline Ships and air squadrons were among the first to be vaccinated, it said.
In the coming days, the campaign will be accelerated to cover all frontline personnel, the release added.
