Healthcare experts, academicians, and government officers on Saturday exhorted the youth to become change-makers by using their social media skills for the betterment of the society.
They were speaking at the Gujarat’s first-ever youth conclave (GYC) which was organized virtually by Gujarat Youth Forum, a collaborative platform for youths.
In his inaugural address, Safin Hasan, Assistant Superindent of Police, Bhavnagar Subdivision, Bhavnagar, said, “Whatever you are doing and try to make it ground level reality and how much impact your effort is making. The change should be substantive, the change should be visible and one change will percolate in the life of many people.”
Speaking on the occasion, Laxmi Bhawani, Chief, UNICEF Gujarat Field Office, UNICEF India, said, “In today’s context, young people have a great role in continued practice and promotion of Covid Appropriate Behaviours (CAB). Take the CAB messages on masks, handwashing and distancing to everyone in the state, in your families, friends, networks, and neighbourhoods – use your digital and social media skills and influence to play this important role.”
GYC is supported by the Centre of Excellence at Gujarat University & Elixir Foundation in partnership with Yuwaah and UNICEF India.
The first edition of Gujarat Youth Conclave consists of 4 online sessions. Each session focuses on a specific topic and will connect with eminent experts, doers, change-makers, and thought leaders. The conclave’s inaugural session also had a special address by Dr. Kamal Kumar Kar, Directorate, National Service Scheme, New Delhi.
The first panel on “Youth for Health In COVID 19” included Vipul Aggarwal, IPS, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, National Health Authority, Government of India, Dr Manan Thakrar, MD Psychiatry (India), Urvashi Prasad, Public Policy Specialist, NITI Aayog and Priya Prakash, Founder & CEO, HealthSetGo.
The session was moderated by Kumar Manish, State YuWaah Consultant, UNICEF India.
Youth in Education panel session focussed on education concern in COVID 19 and speakers included Prof Himanshu Pandya, Vice-Chancellor, Gujarat University, Himanshu Rai, Director, IIM Indore, Richa Gupta, Co-Founder, Labhya Foundation and Abhishek Dubey, Forbes Under 30 Asia & Co-founder, Muskaan Dreams.
The session will be moderated by Monica Yadav, Founder, Respire Experiential Learning.
