In line with the union government’s massive campaign to spread awareness on COVID appropriate behaviour and preventive measures to be followed in view of the upcoming festival/winter seasons.
Southern Railway, in support of the National cause also has initiated an intensive drive targeting its employees and rail passengers.
Earlier on Thursday (October 8, 2020), a COVID awareness pledge was administered by Mr. John Thomas, General Manager, Southern Railway to all the Principal Heads of Departments, Divisional Railway Managers, Other Officers and staff through virtual means.
DRMs of all the six divisions, namely, Chennai, Tiruchchirappalli, Madurai, Salem, Thiruvananthapuram and Palakkad also administered the CoVID awareness pledge to Branch officers and staff of respective Divisions.
Officers and staff working at Railway Offices, Workshops, railway stations also took the pledge at their respective wokspots duly observing social distancing and other safety protocols.
In order to foster awareness among employees, rail passengers and general public, COVID awareness posters were displayed at important locations at railway stations and offices. Besides, Jingles were played at railway stations over Southern Railway where special trains/workmen specials are handled. Special awareness campaign on social media handles with hashtag #Unite2fightCorona was conducted to spread the word, according to a release.
