Gujarat government has called back the health department staff on leave as the state recorded 4,213 new cases of coronavirus on Thursday, taking its tally to 8,44,856, while one patient succumbed to the infection in the state, the Health Department said.
Hence, Pre-Summit on 'Holistic Healthcare: Good Health and Well-Being for All', to be held on Friday, 7th January, is also stands postponed.

The COVID-19 toll rose to 10,127 with one more death reported during the day (in Tapi district), said a release by the health department.
As many as 1,835 new COVID-19 infections emerged in Ahmedabad city alone, followed by 1,105 in Surat city, 183 in Rajkot city and 112 in Anand district, it said.
The tally of recoveries increased to 8,20,383 after 860 patients were discharged from hospitals in the last 24 hours, the release said.
Gujarat now has 14,346 active cases, of which 29 patients are on ventilator support, it said.
As many as 9.23 crore doses of coronavirus vaccines have been administered to the eligible population so far in Gujarat, of which 5.01 lakh shots were given on Thursday, the release said.
Nineteen new cases of COVID-19 were registered in the adjoining Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu in the last 24 hours, taking the overall tally to 10,713, said an official release.
Of the total 10,713 persons found positive for coronavirus in the Union Territory so far, 49 are under treatment, four have died while 10,660 have recovered, said the release.

No leave for health dept staff
The leave of all health department staff, including doctors and paramedics, has been cancelled in view of sudden surge in COVID-19 cases. Gujarat government has asked those already on leave to immediately report back for duty.
Govt cancels flower show, kite festival
The Gujarat government has cancelled the annual Kite festival and Flower Show 2022 in the state.The Kite festival starts a week ahead of Makar Sakranti. Last year too, the annual kite festival was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Flower show was scheduled to be held on the Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad from January 8 to 23. The show was palnned to be organised on the riverfront between Ellis and Sadar Bridge with around 1,000 different varieties of flowers for the decor.

After attending ‘Dharmacharya Ashirwad Samaroh,’ Ahmedabad BJP Chief, leaders test positive
Over 5,000 sadhus and mahants gathered for ‘Dharmacharya Ashirwad Samaroh’ at the Sabarmati River Front to bless Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday. It was organized by the ruling BJP so that seers can give their blessings to Modi for renovating the Kashi Vishwanath temple in Varanasi.
Ahemdabad BJP Chief Amit Popatlal Shah, Vice President Darshak Thakar, former MLA Bhushan Bhatt and Paresh Lakhani, have now tested positive for Covid-19. These leaders, along with State BJP chief CR Paatil and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel were also present on the occasion.
2 Ministers, 4 IAS officers test positive
Gujarat minister Jitubhai Chaudhari on Wednesday said he has tested positive for coronavirus, while four senior IAS officers have also been diagnosed with the infection in the state.
Notably, Chaudhari, Minister of State for Narmada, Kalpasar and Fisheries, has contracted the virus for a second time in nine months. Earlier, he was infected with COVID-19 in April last year during the second wave of the pandemic.
“My Rapid Antigen Test gave a positive result (for COVID-19) today. RT-PCR results are yet to come. I have isolated myself at home. I have urged people, who came into my contact recently, to get themselves tested,” he said in a statement.
On Tuesday, senior IAS officer Manoj Aggarwal, who was heading the state Health Department as its Additional Chief Secretary, was found positive for coronavirus.
On Wednesday, three more senior IAS officers – JP Gupta, Rajkumar Beniwal and Commissioner of Health JP Shivahare – were found positive for coronavirus, said Health Officer of Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation Dr Kalpesh Goswami.
Meanwhile, the state government on Wednesday gave additional charge of the Health Department to the Principal Secretary in the Urban Development Department, Mukesh Kumar.
No new Omicron case detected; 39 more discharged
No new case of the Omicron variant of coronavirus was reported in Gujarat on Thursday, while 39 patients infected with the strain were discharged during the day, said the state Health Department.
A release from the Health Department said so far, 204 cases of the new strain have emerged in Gujarat, of which 151 patients have already been discharged, including 39 on Thursday.
Of these 39 Omicron patients, 34 recovered in Ahmedabad and five in Kheda district, the release said.
Notably, no Omicron patient has died in Gujarat so far.
The maximum number of Omicron cases, 93, have emerged in Ahmedabad city, followed by 30 in Vadodara city, 20 in Surat city, 18 in Anand district and 12 in Kheda district.
