COVID impact: 66% parents bat for online classes, 44% not preferring to send children to school till April 2021, says survey 

A survey amongst 7,500 parents was conducted by Udgam School for Children & Zebar School for Children to gauge their interest in sending their children to school & feedback on online classes and exams

66% of parents are completely satisfied with online education and they don’t want to take the risk by sending their children to schools until vaccine is available while 44% of them strongly conveyed that they want to send their children from April 2021, says a survey.

In a survey conducted amongst 7,500 parents to gauge their interest in when parents prefer to send their children to school, to know their feedback on online education and how parents prefer to conduct students’ exams. Around 5,100 out of 7,500 parents have participated in the survey.

The survey was conducted by two city-based CBSE schools – Udgam School for Children & Zebar School for Children

Incidentally, 16% of total respondents conveyed that they will send their children to school only after one month of government schools open while 44% of respondents strongly said that they would send their children from April 2021. Through the survey it has been reflected that 66% of parents are completely satisfied with online education hence they don’t want to take risks by sending their children to schools until the vaccine is available. Although 8% of total respondent have also shown disinterest towards online classes and the rest of them believes that online education can be better.

72% of parents agree that online classes give a routine to the child – without which the child wastes the time with unproductive activities. While commenting on exams, 51% of parents opined that they were fine with taking exams completely online, 8% of parents have suggested not taking any exams till the schools reopen and 21% of parents were in favor of taking exams through the traditional method of using pen and paper but at home.

Commenting on this Manan Choksi, Executive Director of Udgam School for Children & Zebar School for Children said, “99% of our students have access to devices and bandwidth and the parents are satisfied with the online classes- hence they are not willing to send their children to school until they find it safe. We are considering the feedback from parents who have shown that online education can improve positively. We being considered as a tech-savvy organization always believe to implement state of the art technology in delivering the best education to our children.”
