The Field Archery Association of India (FAAI) secretary-general Subash Chandra Nair has urged the central and state governments to extend the existing facilities for archery training at all districts.
Addressing the media on the sidelines of the Annual General Body meeting of the Tamil Nadu Youth Field Archery Association (TNYFAA) here on Sunday, he said the existing facilities should be extended in such a way that will enable the young sports enthusiasts to get archery training at district-level. Besides outdoor, the indoor facilities should be created to train the budding the sports stars even during rainy season without any hindrance.
Participated as special guest, former police officer M Karunanidhi said that the need of the hour is to familiarize the traditional games like field archery among youths, as it will help to turn their attention from the evils of social media.
Vice President of TNYFAA A Chitra Aravindhan said, besides yoga, the field archery, traditional game help women in all perspectives. She appeals more and more number of girls to take this traditional sports as extra-curricular activity from their tender age.
Chairman of the Technical Committee of TNYFAA R Elangovan, President D Narasimha Rao; Vice President A Chithra Aravindhan; Joint Secretary K B P Vijaya Baskaran and Secretary of FAAI Uday Kumar Vardi spoke at the AGM.
Genaral Secretary of TNYFAA K Ratna Sabapathy welcomed the gathering and moderating the meeting.
Office-bearers of the district associations, coaches and Physical Education Teachers from across the state were honoured with memento and certificates.
