The Indian Performing Right Society Ltd. (IPRS) on Thursday announced that it will conduct a Facebook LIVE session on Monday, July 20 at 7 pm in the memory of the fabled artist Anand Bakshi’s birth centenary which falls on Tuesday, July 21.
This is to honour and celebrate his work and contribution to the music industry. The session will have Subhash Ghai (film director), Rakesh Bakshi (author and son of Anand Bakshi) & author & lyricist Vijay Akela (an author who has penned the book ‘Mey Shayar Badnam’ capturing the life and work of Anand Bakshi) on the panel.
The session is a part of the larger campaign ‘#CreditTheCreators’ an initiative by IPRS to celebrate the work of all artists involved in creating music. The campaign aim was to serve as a thought-starter encouraging all of us to acknowledge those behind the power of words and melodies that have shaped our moments of merriment and misery equally, forever etching those songs in our memories.
The LIVE session titled “Subhash Ghai reveals the secrets of Anand Bakshi in his 14 musical blockbusters” will be moderated by Vijay Akela and joined by IPRS members, students from Whistling Woods International and will also see artists’ participation from the music industry.
Anand Bakshi is always remembered as one of the best Indian poet and lyricist. He is known for his famous contribution to box-office hits like Amar, Akbar and Anthony, Ek Duuje Ke Liye, Sholay, Amar Prem, and many more. He was nominated for the Filmfare award for Best lyricist and has won 4 awards for the same.
