Close on the heels of bagging the prestigious ‘Citizen of Mumbai’ Award 2023-24 by the Rotary Club of Bombay for her contributions to healthcare, education, sports, arts, and culture, the Reliance Foundation chairperson, Nita Ambani, is adding one more feather to her cap. The US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) of the US is honoring her with the Leadership Award for Philanthropy and Corporate Social Responsibility 2023.
In its twitter handle, the USISPF said, Ms. Ambani has been at the forefront of women’s empowerment, children’s education, promoting Indian arts and sports. The award is to be presented by USISPF chairman, Mr John Chambers, on October 29 in New Delhi. Speakers would include star players from different games.
The citation as signed by the former Cisco Chairman and president of USISPF, Mr John Chambers, said as chairperson of Reliance Foundation, Nita Ambani, had been at the forefront of women’s empowerment, childrens’ education, the preservation of Indian art and heritage, affordable medical care and the role of sports in nation building.
It further said, as India’s International Olympic Committee (IOC) member, she successfully batted for cricket’s inclusion in the 2025 Olympics Games in Los Angeles. She was also deeply involved in sports as the owner of Mumbai Indians franchise and advocate for major league Cricket in the US. In addition, she is the founder-Chairperson of Football Sports Development Ltd which launched the Indian Super League and the head of the Education and Sports for All initiative for children. Under her leadership, the Reliance Foundation’s sporting initiative had worked with youth across India.
