The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) evacuated a critically injured man from a fishing boat in the Arabian sea off Gujarat coast and provided medical relief, the force said on Thursday.
Upon receiving a message on Wednesday regarding a medical emergency on board IFB Dariya Dolat One, about 110 km into sea from Pipavav, an ICG ship, which was on surveillance, was tasked for the evacuation, it said.
“Swiftly responding to the distress call, ICGS C-409 established communication with the boat and proceeded with maximum speed to its location. The ICG ship evacuated the casualty named Deva UkaDabhi, aged 31 yrs, who had sustained critical injury in right lower abdomen while removing entangled ropes from the boat propeller,” it said.
“Post evacuation and initial treatment by ICG Medical team at sea, the patient was safely brought back to Pipavav Harbour and handed over to Fisheries Association Jafrabad in stable condition for further medical management,” the ICG release said.
