In a significant move to strengthen India’s engineering research ecosystem and foster next-generation innovation, the CSIR-Structural Engineering Research Centre (CSIR-SERC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science (HITS) to advance academic and research collaboration.
The MoU was formally exchanged on February 16, 2026, at the Hindustan Institute of Technology & Science campus in Chennai, marking the beginning of a long-term strategic partnership focused on joint research initiatives, academic cooperation, and technological advancement in structural engineering and allied disciplines.

The agreement was exchanged in the presence of senior leadership from both institutions, including N. Anandavalli, Director, CSIR-SERC; Ashok George Verghese, Pro Chancellor, HITS; Murali Krishna, Dean (Engineering & Technology) and Director IQAC, HITS; Vikas Misra, Vice Chancellor, HITS; R. Asokan, Dean (Aeronautical & Aerospace), HITS; and V. Ramesh Kumar, Principal Scientist and Coordinator for HITS at CSIR-SERC.
Through this collaboration, both institutions aim to leverage their respective strengths in research, advanced infrastructure, and academic excellence to develop innovative engineering solutions and nurture highly skilled professionals equipped to meet emerging industry and national challenges.
Hindustan Institute of Technology & Science expressed strong interest in building a sustained, mutually beneficial partnership that promotes knowledge exchange, interdisciplinary research, and talent development. The collaboration is expected to open new avenues for joint research projects, student engagement, faculty exchange, and industry-relevant innovation.
This strategic alliance reinforces CSIR-SERC’s mission of advancing structural engineering research and strengthening India’s scientific capabilities, while enhancing HITS’ commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and global research engagement.
