ATG Tires Private Limited has announced on Thursday that as part of its CSR initiative the company distributed over 750 ration kits to the needy in and around its plant at Dahej and lunchboxes to frontline warriors like police during these tough times of COVID 19. Understanding the gravity of the situation even when the numbers in the state were in single digits, ATG Tires took proactive steps in both educating and implementing government directives in the nearby villages and towns, a release said.
Amberish Shinde, Plant Head of ATG Dahej factory said, “Safety of our employees and of the people in the neighboring communities in all aspects is our top priority. We anticipated the difficulties that people would face during the lockdown and worked closely with the district authorities to make life as normal as we could.”
During the lockdown period, ATG Tires distributed 750 ration kits to the needy people in Samantpor, Sambheti, Galendi, Jolwa, and Barbot villages. These places were also sanitized using the company’s state-of-the-art Fire Tenders. The factory had constituted a special team to educate villagers and migrant workers on the safety guidelines to be followed to prevent Covid-19 infections. As part of this education initiative, several temperatures checking camps were conducted among people staying at the labour colony. Free masks and sanitisers were also distributed to them. Saluting the noble work of the police force who was risking their health to control the pandemic, ATG Tires distributed lunchboxes as a token of appreciation to all Police Check Posts from Dahej to Bharuch. This was done in liaison with the SP Office, Bharuch.
Plant resumes operations
After the government’s announcement of partial relaxation of the lockdown, the company ensured that the factory would be up and running, contributing to the economic growth of the country. Free bus services were provided at several times during the day to pick up employees and contract workers to report to work. To avoid any discomfort at work, free meals and refreshments were provided to all employees, contract workers, vendors, and even drivers during this time. As all the districts of Maharashtra were under strict lockdown, ATG Tires took special permission from the Collector Office, Bharuch to bring back its IAT employees who were stuck there. More than 15 trips were made by the company’s buses in a span of 10 days to bring them back. On reaching Bharuch each IAT was also provided complete ration kits for their initial settling down.
Green initiatives
ATG Tires follows the corporate philosophy of balancing business operations with the needs of the local community. Besides employing nearly 900 people from the local and nearby villages and towns, the company is involved in school adoption projects. ATG Tires has also contributed to the Green Belt in Dahej through educating and training the local communities in the renowned Japanese ‘MIYAWAKI METHOD OF TREE PLANTATION’ and planting more than 4,500 trees in the last 2 years through their Forever Forest Programme.
