India’s second-largest public sector bank, Punjab National Bank (PNB) commenced Phase-2 of its nationwide campaign to provide COVID-19 prevention materials through its 662 district offices, a bank release said.
The bank on Thursday donated Rs 64 lakh towards Maharshtra CM COVID-19 Relief Fund as part of its effort to help fight against COVID-19 crisis.
The cheque was handed over by the bank’s senior officials – D Chand, CGM and R K Hegde, GM – to Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR).
The chief minister appreciated the gesture of the bank, PNB said in a statement.
As part of the commitment to widen its social inclusion of COVID-19 prevention activities, the bank has joined hands with Humsafar Trust, India’s first community-based organisation (CBO), and will distribute face masks and sanitisers to the LGBT members across the nation. The formal event took place at PNB’s Mumbai Circle office, it said.
Patna Circle Office distributed Face Masks and sanitizers amongst CORONA warriors, Policemen, Media persons, and other needy people. COVID-19 prevention materials were distributed in Old Age Home at Agra by PNB employees.
The Executive Directors of the PNB bank Dr. Rajesh Kumar Yaduvanshi, Sanjay Kumar, and Vijay Dube, also distributed prevention materials to the facility management staff at the headquarters of the Bank in Dwarka, New Delhi.
Commenting on PNB’s CSR effort, Dr. Rajesh Kumar Yaduvanshi, Executive Director of Punjab National Bank, said “We have always been inclusive in our approach to serve the society in a better way. PNB has been proactively supporting communities to safeguard them from this unprecedented crisis. We shall continue such endeavours advocating the government’s extensive efforts to contain challenges and risks posed by the pandemic.”
PNB employees have distributed masks and sanitisers in many parts of the country, including Amritsar, Lucknow, Hyderabad, Guwahati and Ahmedabad.
