NE EDUCATION BUREAU
AHMEDABAD, JULY 7
In line with the National Education Policy of India 2020 (NEP 2020), and the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to impart skill-based education to youth and keeping pace with technological advancements in emerging technologies, Vallabhvidyanagar-based CVM University (CVMU) on Friday announced the launch of its 18th educational unit – School of Design – from this current academic year.
Speaking with navjeevanexpress.com, CVMU Provost Professor (Dr) Himanshu Soni, said, “Aiming to foster innovation in animation, VFX, gaming, UI and UX, the CVM School of Design will offer two undergraduate courses – BDesign (Animation, VFX & Gaming) and BDesign (UI & UX). Any higher secondary passed student having passion for design can join these four-year courses. It will spread over eight semesters with 90 percent practical and 10 percent theoretical classes which will be accompanied by internship at the end of every semester at reputed industries. This will equip them well to become industry-ready when they step out of our university. Further, they can become job-providers rather than job-seekers as next 25 years will belong to them.”
“The rapidly increasing industries of UI & UX, animation, visual effects (VFX), and gaming are the focus of a brand-new, comprehensive course will be taught by both industry experts and academicians of repute. With the help of this ground-breaking programme, aspiring professionals will be given the abilities and information necessary to succeed in these fast-paced fields. The blending of theoretical instruction with hands-on training will give students a comprehensive understanding of the industry and practical expertise with tools and software that are used by the business world,” Prof Soni added.
Throwing light on these new-age courses, one of the Honorary Advisors on the Board of Studies, Sanjeev Waeerkar, a veteran animator with over 25 years of experience, Director-Ice Candy and Founder-TASI said, “Next 25 years belong to experts in these emerging technologies. Even now technologically advanced countries like US outsource these works to Indian companies and individuals as they do not like Chinese in this domain. Many Vadodara-based studios work for many foreign countries which speaks volumes of our technical skills. With the advent of social media, the demand for this specialists will go up further.”
CVMU Registrar Agneshwari Adhiya said, “This curriculum covers a wide range of topics and skills crucial to the UI & UX, animation, visual effects, and gaming industries, such as animation fundamentals, game design, 3D modelling and texturing, industry immersion, User-Centered Design, Information Architecture, Interaction Design, Visual Design, Prototyping and Testing and others. In a nutshell, by enrolling in these courses, one can become an expert from script to screen in animation and so on. The fees for these courses are Rs 90,000 per semester.”
These programmes, with a heavy stress on industry applicability, strive to close the skills gap between the classroom and the workplace by developing students’ artistic and technical talents while preparing them for the difficulties of the working world.
Registration for the course is now open, and interested individuals are encouraged to visit CVM University to learn more about the program and secure their enrolment. Limited seats are available, and early applicants may qualify for exclusive scholarships.
