Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal joined thousands of enthusiastic participants at the Sardar@150 National Unity March in Vadodara on Friday, underscoring the pivotal role of youth in carrying forward Sardar Patel’s legacy of national integration. Addressing a vibrant gathering at Aarana Lawns, Sevasi, Sonowal said the march had “ignited a powerful wave of patriotism across India,” reflecting the resolve of young citizens to uphold the vision of Ek Bharat.

Emphasising the spirit of unity and progress, Sonowal said, “The passion of our youth proves that the idea of Ek Bharat continues to inspire every citizen. From Sardar Patel’s dream of a united India to an Atmanirbhar Bharat under Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji, the nation continues to march ahead with unity and confidence.”
MASSIVE PARTICIPATION ACROSS INDIA
The padyatra, which commenced from the Hare Krishna Temple in Anklav, witnessed strong participation from students, cultural groups, and community organisations.
According to MY Bharat, the nationwide initiative has already:
- Conducted 1,514 padyatras
- Covered 620+ districts and 440 Lok Sabha constituencies
- Engaged over 1.5 million citizens
- Completed 10,007 km collectively
These numbers highlight the growing youth-led momentum behind the Sardar@150 celebrations.
CULTURAL SHOWCASE CELEBRATING UNITY
The inaugural programme featured ‘Sardar Gatha’, themed “Vithalbhai – Maniben – Sardar,” followed by cultural performances including Gram Sabha, Nrutya Natika, and Bhajan Sandhya—all spotlighting India’s shared heritage and unity in diversity.
PADYATRA TO CULMINATE IN GRAND EVENT
On Saturday, the march will traverse key locations across Vadodara before culminating at Navlakhi Ground with a large cultural event dedicated to the Iron Man of India.
The 11-day march, marking the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, continues to energise young India with messages of national integration, self-reliance and collective pride.
Sonowal was accompanied by several dignitaries including Union Ministers Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya and Ajay Tamta, as well as MPs, MLAs and senior state leaders.
