The Gujarat Literature Festival (GLF), the largest and most popular literary event in Gujarat, continued to attract an unending flow of participants on Saturday, which witnessed more than a dozen interesting sessions and other events.
Day 4 of the 9th edition of GLF got underway with an absorbing discussion between new-age writers on their favourite social media captions. The second session was an hour-long literal tour and introduction to Gujarati literature wherein noted authors Mahendrasinh Parmar, Sharifaben Vijliwala, Darshanaben Dholakiya and Rishikesh Raval shared their insights about literature from different regions of the state.
The second part of the session saw authors Manilal Patel, Hiten Anandpara, Usha Upadhyay, and Bhagwandas Patel talk about Gujarati literature from within the state as well as outside.
One of the highlights of the day was the talk between Dhvanit Thakar and music director and composer Bhargav Purohit about the popular former RJ’s future plans.
GLF day 4 also saw young and emerging poets presenting their poems and sharing their views on Gujarati poetry before an enthralled audience. In another session on poetry, established poets like Bhavesh Bhatt, Hiten Anandpara, Parul Khakhar, Devangi Bhatt, and Esha Dadawala presented some of their favourite Gujarati poems.
Another interesting session moderated by veteran screenwriter Anjum Rajabali, saw writer Sandeep Shrivastava, actor Rajit Kapur, and film & TV writer Charudutt Acharya discussing the real definition of patriotism, and the renewed vigour with which patriotism is being presented in films and web series in the present days.
In a conversation with senior journalist Sheela Bhatt, well-known anchors Sreenivasan Jain and Bhupendra Chaubey of NDTV and India Ahead respectively shared their insights into the thought processes that decide the news or issues to be discussed in prime time news debates and shows. They also shared their thoughts on the impact of digital media on news channels.

We are especially pleased with the response from children and youngsters who have attended the sessions in large numbers. There are many more exciting and interesting sessions lined up for Sunday. We are confident that the final day of GLF will also witness excellent turnout.”
Another highlight of GLF day 4 was the discussion on the disconnect between the audiences and films which saw Amit Masurkar, Reshu Nath, and Shellee sharing their views about what the audiences want and what the writers and producers give.
Monica Gupta’s book Daughter of Luharu and industrialist AK Jagatramka’s book My Selfie With Integrity were also released on the fourth day of the GLF.
Tabariya, the specially designed fest for children, also witnessed exciting and insightful sessions on storytelling, how old stories can be retold for today’s children, popularising traditional children’s stories, a session on Rabindranath Tagore, and more.
