Despite various measures taken by Tamil Nadu government to arrest the trend of suicides by NEET aspirants, a student who was preparing for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) exam died by suicide in Tamil Nadu’s Ariyalur on Saturday.
Police said they found a letter written by the girl which said she took the extreme step due to the fear of failing the exam. The exam is scheduled to be held on July 17.
The girl scored 529 marks in the 2020-21 academic year public examination. She had failed to clear the entrance test last year. She was preparing to appear for the exam again but was found dead on Saturday.
Based on the complaint filed at the Ariyalur Police Station, the police arrived at the scene and seized the body and sent it to the Ariyalur government hospital for an autopsy report.
