NEW DELHI, APRIL 4
Delhi police have booked cases against several persons, including controversial Hindu priest Yati Narsinghanand of Dasna Devi temple in Ghaziabad and Sudarshan TV chief editor Suresh Chavhanke, on charges of delivering provocative speeches on Sunday.
Narsinghanand and Chavhanke had addressed ‘a Hindu Mahapancyayat’ at Burari grounds on the outskirts of Delhi. They are reported to have made highly provocative speeches against Muslims.
The cases were also booked against organisers of the event, including chief Preet Singh, chief of ‘Save India Foundation’ that had organized the programme. The programme was organized despite police having not granted permission for the programme.
The FIRs were registered on complaints from some journalists who were beaten up by the organisers of the event.
A police statement said that FIRs against Narsinghanand and Chavhanke were lodged for making speeches promoting disharmony and ill-will among communities.
Narsinghanand is alleged to have incited the audience to pick up arms if India were to get a Muslim prime minister. The controversial priest said that 40 per cent of Hindus will be exterminated if a Muslim became PM. He said that if you wanted to change it, then pick up arms. Narsinghanand was released on bail in February this year for making a provocative speech against Muslims in Haridwar.
Chavhanke, in his speech said, that India Muslims not be given the same rights as Indian Hindus.
Meanwhile, police also booked some people for posting ‘controversial’ tweets about the incident.
