A request to put on hold the execution of the four Nirbhaya case convicts, scheduled to be hanged at 6 am tomorrow, was rejected by a Delhi court on Monday.
The Patiala court dismissed an application to stay the execution of the convicts Akshay Thakur, 31, Pawan Gupta, 25, and Mukesh Singh, 32.
and Pawan Gupta, whose curative petition was rejected today by the Supreme Court.
Nirbhaya’s mother said “They have wasted the court’s time and tried to subvert system. Now they will be hanged tomorrow,”
Pawan Gupta filed mercy petition with President
After the Supreme Court rejected the curative petition,, the fourth convict Pawan Gupta has filed a mercy petition before the President Ramnath Kovind, Just a day before the scheduled execution.
One of the death-row convicts in Nirbhaya rape case, Pawan Gupta, on Monday filed a mercy petiton before the President of India.
He was the only convict who had not availed of the remedy of mercy petition.
Another convict, Akshay, had last week filed another mercy plea, asserting that the previous one was “incomplete”.
