Desert Hawks Annual Outreach Programme for Veterans by Walk and Talk under the aegis of Konark Corps was flagged off by Colonel Nitin, Commanding Officer, Desert Hawks from Bakhasar on Tuesday, a Defence release said.
A team of 39 members started their 24-day journey from Bakhasar on Tuesday. The aim of this event is to interact with ex-servicemen, their next of kins (NoKs) and solve their problems under ‘Year of NoK Programme 2020’ and to motivate and educate the youth of border area to join armed forces.
This event also intends to educate the border area population about nuances of the COVID 19 and measures to prevent it. The event includes a walk along the border villages which includes a total distance of 790 km and interacting with the population of approximately 42 villages. The event will be completed in 24 days with its culmination on April 9, 2020, at Gamnewala.
