The Department of Posts is providing a platform for submission of Life Certificate in digital mode through India Post Payments Bank for the Pensioners of Central Government and EPFO at their doorsteps through Postman.
- A Central Government team from Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare shall be visiting Chennai where this campaign is being organized in collaboration with State bank of India on 21st November, 2022 for Central Government pensioners at TGP Kalyan Mandapam, West Tambaram, Chennai.
- Pensioners can generate their digital life certificate through their area postmen within few minutes by providing details like Aadhaar number, mobile number, PPO number, pension account details and biometric authentication.
Central Government Pensioners/EPFO Pensioners are asked to submit their Annual Life Certificate from 1st Nov 2022 onwards. To avoid the hassle faced by the pensioners while going in person to submit their Life certificate, India Post Payments Bank, which operates under the Department of Posts has arranged for the doorstep service to the pensioners to submit their digital Life Certificate through Jeevan Pramaan using the biometric authentication, with a service charge of Rs. 70.

Pensioners can generate their digital life certificate through their area postmen within few minutes by providing details like Aadhaar number, mobile number, PPO number, pension account details and biometric authentication.
The India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) was launched nationwide on September 01, 2018. It is fully owned by Department of Posts operating under the Ministry of Communications, Government of India. It is expanding the banking services to the last mile of the country through 1,36,000 post offices. It has opened savings accounts for over 5 crore members of public within a short span of time.
In Chennai City Region, more than 2500 Postmen and Gramin Dak Sevaks through 1979 Post Offices in urban and rural areas and villages are being engaged for various door step services like Aadhaar Mobile number Updation, new Aadhaar enrolment for Children below 5 years, Aadhaar Enabled Payment System withdrawals for Direct Benefit Transfers and submission of Digital Life Certificate for Pensioners.
Chennai City Region has facilitated 59,962 pensioners of State Government in generating Digital Life Certificate at their doorsteps through Postmen during the mustering period from 1st July 2022 to 30th Sep 2022.
Therefore, the Central Government Pensioners & EPFO Pensioners can avail the doorstep facility and submit their Digital Life Certificate to their Area Postmen in their homes.
Special campaign to promote Digital Life Certificate in Chennai on November 21
The Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Government of India has launched a nation-wide campaign for promotion of Digital Life Certificate for Central Government pensioners. In November 2021, Dr. Jitendra Singh, the Minister of State (PP) had launched the milestone Face Authentication Technique of submitting Life Certificate through any Android Mobile Phone.
Now the department is launching a special nation-wide campaign for promoting the submission of Life Certificates through Digital mode and to popularize and spread awareness about the Face Authentication technique. All the registered Pensioners Associations, Pension Disbursing Banks, Ministries of Government of India and CGHS Wellness Centres have been directed to promote the Digital Life Certificate/Face Authentication Technique for submitting Life Certificate by organizing special camps for ‘Ease of Living’ of pensioners.
In this series, a Central Government team from Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare shall be visiting Chennai where this campaign is being organized in collaboration with State bank of India on 21st November, 2022 for Central Government pensioners at TGP Kalyan Mandapam, West Tambaram, Chennai.
All pensioners can visit this Centre for submitting their Life Certificates through Digital means and also to learn the technique of doing the same in future from the comfort of their homes. Representatives from UIDAI as well as from the All India Federation of Pensioners’ Association, Chennai will also be present in the camp.
Digital Life Certificates submitted since 1.10.22 till date are 64,72,213 and of this total DLC through Face Authentication are 3,47,336. Further, the total DLCs submitted by Central Government pensioners for this period is 23,19,223. Of this total DLC of Central Government pensioners through Face Authentication is 2,02,774.
Earlier, life certificates had to be submitted in physical form and for this the pensioners had to stand in queues outside banks for hours. Now, it has become possible at the click of a button from the comfort of their homes. In the process of submission of Life Certificate through Face Authentication using Android mobiles, the details regarding Aadhaar Number, Mobile Number for OTP, PPO Number, Account Number with Bank/Post Office are required for the first time. This facility is also available to the pensioners of several other Pension Sanctioning Authorities.
The central team has urged all the pensioners to visit the center to submit their Life Certificates through digital medium.
