Icon of Tamil Cinema and Iyakkunar Imayam K Bharathiraja, 81, has fully recovered from his illness from MGM Healthcare, a multi-disciplinary hospital on Friday.

Addressing reporters, Bharathiraja’s son and actor Manoj Bharathiraja along with the doctors’ team headed by Dr Ananth Mohan Pai, Director of Medical Services, MGM Healthcare said that the legendary director was admitted with the complaints of Altered Sensorium on August 26, 2022.

- Bharathiraja is currently working with four films out of which, two are in finishing stages including a film with Thangar Bachan and other two are pending
He was treated at the ICU by a team of multi-disciplinary doctors – Dr Swamikannu, Senior Consultant and Director – Department of Internal Medicine and Dr Sabanayagam, Senior Consultant and Clinical Lead – and medical professionals. After he was stabilised and showed clinical improvement, he was transferred to the general ward. He was stable and was discharged on Friday.
Meanwhile, the Director’s son and actor Manoj Bharathiraja appealed the media to publish news after checking the real facts. The entire medical expenses have been borne by him and not as published in a section of the media.
His father is fully recovered from the illness, and will roar back ‘En Iniya Thamizh Makkale’, said Manoj with confidence.
After the advise of Kaviperarasu Vairamuthu and few other friends of Bharathiraja, he was admitted to MGM Healthcare with full confidence that he would return to the cinema world, Monoj added.
Bharathiraja was actively cooperating for the treatment, his will power and sense of humour helped him to recover very fast, the doctors’ team said.
He was very candid and exchanging jokes with the treating doctors and para-medical staff for the last couple of days and showing interest in watching the films he had directed and acted, including the recently released ‘Thiruchitrambalam.’
Bharathiraja is currently working with four films out of which, two are in finishing stages including a film with Thangar Bachan and other two are pending, Manoj said.
