Veteran director K. Bhagyaraj along with cine stars Chaya Singh, Sakshi Agarwal inaugurated the “Kidney Health for All” awareness walkathon here on Sunday.
This year, the Joint Steering Committee of WKD declared “Kidney Health for All” as the theme of the 2022 WKD to emphasize and extend collaborative efforts among people with kidney disease, their care partners, health care providers, and all involving stakeholders for elevating education and awareness on kidney health.
To mark the World Kidney Day, director K Bhagyaraj and cine stars Chaya Singh, Sakshi Agarwal flagged off a two-km walkathon at Besant Nagar Beach at 7 am on Sunday. Under the guidance of Dr BR Nammazhvar, Director, Children’s Nephrology, Dr Kalaivani Ganesan and her colleagues Dr Sudha Ekambaram, and Dr Suganya Govindan of Mehta Hospital’s Children’s Nephrology Department have taken the initiative of this “Kidney Health for All” awareness walkathon.
This event was jointly organised by Mehta Multispeciality Hospital India Pvt Ltd and International Paediatric Nephrology Association.
Over 200 school children and their parents carried placards creating awareness on the importance of kidney diseases preventive measures.
Throwing light on organising this awareness campaign, Dr Kalaivani Ganesan said, “Propagating awareness on the symptoms of kidney diseases and measures to control it, the preventive measures to be taken among the kidney patients – those who are undergoing dialysis and kidney transplantation beneficiaries, including the caretakers are our main aims.”
Dr Mehta Hospital has been one of the pioneers in healthcare with 89 years of dedicated service. As part of its Community Service Respoonsibilty, Mehta Hospital’s Children’s Nephrology Department has been undertaing this awareness marathon.
Dr Mehta Multispeciality Hospital has 80+ medical and speciality surgery departments, 600 specialists, 500 beds. These departments have helped in delivery of over 20 lakh children. Two generations have treated over 20,000 families and three generations have treated over 30,000 families. We have conducted over 20 lakh surgeries, including over one lakh complicated surgeries in our hospital. Further, 170 kidney transplantations have been successfully done by us.
