Curated by Aasai, this thought-provoking solo exhibition, delves into the interplay between nature and human emotion. The exhibition presents a series of mixed-media works that capture the infinite rhythms of creation, transformation, and renewal. Through a combination of organic materials such as sand, charcoal, oils, and watercolours, Dhyan brings to life a deeply immersive experience that invites viewers to reflect on their relationship with the natural world.

Having born in the lap of Mother Nature at Thangadh to Dushyant and Janki Sompura, he was initiated into painting by his parents at the tender age. He has also penned four books of poetry – Frozen Wild, Those Tiny Little Moments, Immortal Waves, and Lovers Are Blind – which are available at the expo as well as e-com stores.

“Fragments of Infinity explores the boundless cycles of connection and disconnection, much like the organic processes in nature and the ever-shifting landscapes of human emotion,” says Dhyan Sompura. “Each piece serves as an invitation to pause, feel deeply and remember our shared responsibility towards the planet.”

With his alternative use of natural materials, Dhyan prioritizes sustainability in his creative process, attempting to steer away from synthetic mediums. His work is deeply rooted in the philosophy that art should not only evoke emotions but also inspire action. “I make my work to inspire and influence people to choose nature before this plastic world. After all, it’s the planet that has kept us alive this long, and we must take action to protect it,” he adds.

The exhibition features a curated selection of pieces that blend poetic storytelling with tactile textures, further enhanced by Dhyan’s signature approach of incorporating found natural objects—twigs, sand, feathers, and more—into his compositions. Each artwork is a meditation on the interconnectedness of all living things, a theme that runs through both his visual and written expressions.

After the inauguration ceremony, Manan Relia, Chief Guest and Director at Archer Art Gallery, said, “Nurturing the environment is need of the hour. His surroundings and upbringing amidst green environment have instilled him to bring alive the nature in the form of paintings. I wish him to succeed in his endeavour to spread awareness on sustainability through his works.”

Commenting her disciple Shalu Juneja, Dhyan’s Mentor at Unolona Academy, said: “Dhyan’s work is an attempt to showcase the boundless nature of artistic expression. With every piece, he bridges the gap between the tangible and the abstract, drawing from nature to create art that is both evocative and immersive. He’s learnt plenty from us in a short period at Unolona Academy and I am certain he will carry this forward a long way.”

Harsimran Juneja, Aasai, said: “Fragments of Infinity is an exploration of movement, memory, and emotion—an invitation to witness the rhythms of nature and the fleeting, yet eternal, moments of human connection through Dhyan’s interplay of materials and form. This marks the beginning of a long-lasting journey for him”

Fragments of Infinity will be on display until 6th February at Urmila Kailash Black Box, with special guests from the art and design community. The exhibition will remain open to the public from 4 pm – 8 pm, between February 1st – 6th, 2025.
