To mark Disability Pride Month, Godrej Industries Group, a leading Indian conglomerate, released a short documentary, “Access/Ability,”. The film explores the transformative power of inclusivity through the lens of the Godrej Industries Group’s efforts to improve disability inclusion and accessibility at the Group’s workplaces.
The corporate landscape for individuals with disabilities is improving, but challenges persist. Persons with disabilities (PwDs) not only face barriers in recruitment and unconscious biases but also face challenges in workplace accessibility. However, progressive corporations are increasingly recognizing the value of accessibility and implementing strategies to address these issues – redesigning workspaces for universal accessibility, providing specialized training and mentorship programs, and fostering a culture of inclusivity.

Parmesh Shahani, Head of Godrej DEi Lab, stated, “With ‘Access/Ability,’ we aim to demonstrate that true inclusivity goes beyond physical adaptation, though this is fundamental. It’s about creating a culture where every individual, regardless of ability, feels valued and empowered to flourish and thrive. Through the DEI Lab and all our businesses, we hope to keep improving our infrastructure, policy, and culture of belonging in a way that means every individual feels welcomed at work.”
‘Access/Ability’ highlights key initiatives taken by the Godrej Industries Group to advance disability inclusion. These including accessible office spaces with personalized support and flexible work arrangements, dedication to incorporating universal design, and stories from employees who have found comfort, community, and optimism for the future through their work.
Key leaders from the Group including Manish Shah, MD of Godrej Capital, and Rohit Mohan, Chief Design Officer at Godrej Properties, further emphasize the importance of inclusive design and work functions in shaping a more equitable future.
