Following the box office success of ‘Kaathu Vakkula Rendu Kaadhal’, lady Superstar Nayanthara is set for the release of her next movie, ‘O2’ which will have a direct OTT release on the Disney Hotstar platform on June 17. This was announced during the trailer launch of the film in Chennai on Monday.
The trailer pertaining to a lyric on mother sentiment has opened with a positive response from the viewers. It looks like ‘O2’ will be an intense edge of the seat thriller that will keep the audience intrigued with its exciting moments. The trailer gives us a brief glimpse of the main conflict of the film and it looks to be a solid engaging entertainer.
This is a survival thriller where people have to fight out among themselves to survive and we see a roller coaster of emotions being exchanged among multiple characters.
A private bus goes missing from the radar and has fallen into a trap where the passengers are stuck and have to fight for their lives. Nayanthara is stuck in a complicated situation where her son, Veera (played by Youtuber Master Rithvik) has breathing problems and she needs oxygen to save him from death. The trailer shows a good level of promise and it looks like debut director GS Vignesh has got interesting content in hand.
The film was produced by SR Prabhu and SR Prakash Babu under the banner of Dream Warrior Pictures.
‘O2’ has music composed by Vishal Chandrasekhar, while the cinematography has been handled by Thamizh A Azhagan of ‘Manmatha Leelai’ fame. Through the trailer, the makers have officially announced the release plans of the movie. ‘O2’ is slated to release on June 17 and it will skip the theatrical release, going for a direct digital premiere on the Disney Hotstar platform.
Replying to a query, producer SR Prabhu said that the film was produced during Covid pandemic. It was decided to release on OTT and they have no second thought about theatrical release.
He said, “As people are accustomed to watch films from the comforts of their home screens, we hope, we will fetch the matching revenue as that of a theatrical release.”
