DMK youth wing leader Udhayanidhi Stalin on Sunday met the students of the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), who were recently attacked, in New Delhi. He was accompanied by a few office-bearers from the DMK youth wing.
“As per the order of our leader M.K. Stalin, I met the students of JNU who were attacked. They protested peacefully for more than 78 days, against the fee hike,” Udhayanidhi said in a tweet.
“In order to divert the attention over the protests against Citizenship Amendment Act, the attack was carried on these peaceful protestors. The students took me to every room in Sabarmati hostel, where the goondas with the help of police security indulged in violence,” he said.
“It is disheartening to know that the Vice Chancellor has not met the students who were attacked, till now. Despite knowing who the goondas are, even an FIR is not filed still,” Udhayanidhi said in a series of tweets.
Meanwhile, DMK has convened a meeting of the party’s top executive council here in the city on January 21. The meeting is to take stock of the party’s affairs and discuss measures to strengthen it further, a DMK statement said here on Sunday.
