Delhi Public School-Bopal commemorated the 30th National Reading Day on Thursday, with enthusiastic participation from students of Grades I to XII. The celebration was part of the school’s continuous efforts to cultivate a strong reading culture among young learners.

The day began with students taking a Reading Pledge, reaffirming the importance of reading for personal growth and national development. A variety of engaging activities were conducted across all the grades, including book summary presentations, Word Box activities, and storytelling sessions in primary classes all designed to build vocabulary, enhance comprehension, and promote a love for books.

Special arrangements in the school libraries added to the significance of the day, providing students with enriching experiences in a book-centric environment. A key highlight was a Quiz on National Reading Day in the senior school, which sparked students’ curiosity about P. N. Panicker, the visionary of the Library Movement, and the history behind the occasion.
Students eagerly immersed themselves in a wide range of books, joyfully flipping through pages and discovering new worlds and ideas. The event reflected the spirit of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasizes developing strong reading habits from an early age to support critical thinking, cognitive growth, and language acquisition.
Speaking about the celebration, the school leadership highlighted that reading is not just an academic skill but a gateway to lifelong learning and empowerment. The observance of National Reading Day served as a meaningful step toward creating a reading-driven, knowledge-based society.
