Dr K Narayanasamy, Vice Chancellor of The TN MGR Medical University, emphasized the pivotal role that the graduates will play in shaping the future of healthcare. He urged the graduates to embrace the challenges of the rapidly evolving medical field, stressing the need for innovation, lifelong learning, and compassionate care, while encouraging them to contribute to the advancement of healthcare through their expertise, leadership, and commitment to patient well-being.
He was addressing at the Graduation Ceremony 2024 of Ganga College of Nursing on Saturday. The ceremony commenced with an Academic Procession, marking a vibrant and memorable start to the celebration. It featured all dignitaries and graduates and was followed by a soulful prayer rendered by “Ganga Swarangal.” The traditional Lighting of the Kuthuvilakku was led by Kanakavalli Shanmuganathan, Managing Director of Ganga Hospital and Managing Trustee of Ganga College of Nursing, along with other dignitaries.

The welcome address was delivered by Rama Rajasekaran, Trustee, Ganga College of Nursing, Coimbatore, setting the tone for the momentous occasion. This was followed by the Enlightening of the Florence Nightingale Lamp by Dr. Esther Rakel, Dean cum Principal of Ganga College of Nursing and Ignatius Mary, CNO, Ganga Hospital, symbolizing the enduring legacy of nursing excellence. Prof. Jebakumari Sudha, Vice Principal, GCON, led the graduating nurses in reciting the Florence Nightingale Pledge, while Dr. Suma Natarajan, Head of Obstetrics & Gynecology, Ganga Women & Child Centre, Coimbatore administered the AHS Oath to Allied Health Science students.
The Institutional Anthem was performed by first-year Nursing and AHS students, fostering a sense of unity and pride. Dr. S. Rajasekaran, Chairman of the Department of Orthopedics, Trauma & Spine Surgery at Ganga Hospital, delivered an inspiring Presidential Address, commending the graduates for their dedication and resilience.
Dr. Esther Rakel, Dean cum Principal, GCON, introduced the Guest of Honour, Dr. R.V. Ramani, The Founder and Managing Trustee of Sankara Eye Care & Institutions, Coimbatore, shared valuable insights during his address, drawing from his vast experience in healthcare and community service. He highlighted the importance of compassion, dedication, and ethical practices in the medical profession, encouraging the graduates to embrace their roles as healthcare providers with a sense of responsibility and empathy. Dr. Raja Bhaskara Kanakeshwar, Senior Registrar in Arthroplasty & Oncology at Ganga Hospital, introduced the Chief Guest, Dr. K. Narayanasamy, Vice Chancellor of The TNMGR Medical University, Chennai.
Around 300 graduates, adorned in ceremonial chamberlain attire, pledged their professional commitment. Dr. C. Sekar, Consultant and Head of the Department of Anaesthesia, Ganga Hospital, administered the Oath for Graduates, reinforcing their commitment to ethical and compassionate care.
The Presentation of Graduands, conducted by Dr. K. Narayanasamy, Vice Chancellor of The TNMGR Medical University, Chennai, and Dr. R.V. Ramani, Founder and Managing Trustee of Sankara Eye Care & Institutions, Coimbatore, was followed by the Release of the College Souvenir, a significant highlight led by the same dignitaries alongside others.
Two of the Best Teacher Awards were presented by Dr. K. Narayanasamy, Vice Chancellor of The TNMGR Medical University, Chennai, while the Memorial Award for Outstanding Students was conferred by Usha Ishwar from Bangalore and the Joint Directors. The Best Outgoing Student, Best Clinical Performer, and Academic Topper awards were presented by the Board of Directors and Consultants of Ganga Hospital, Coimbatore.
Dr. Raja Shanmugakrishnan, Consultant in Breast Reconstruction, Oncology, Aesthetic & Burns at Ganga Hospital, delivered the Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to all who made the event a success.
The evening concluded with a joyful Recession, followed by a vibrant “Bouncing Medics-2024” celebration, featuring music and dance performances by the students of Ganga College of Nursing. Athul’s Band – The Crescendo Collective captivated the audience with a stunning musical performance, creating an electrifying atmosphere. The event ended with a delightful dinner, marking a memorable celebration of academic and professional excellence.
